Facebook-owned Oculus is sending out a first batch of its Touch controllers to customers who have pre-ordered the product this week. The company will also start selling the Touch via its website and select online and brick-and-mortar retailers Tuesday.

Consumers who buy a pair of Touch controllers for $200 will also get an additional sensor for location tracking, as well as an adapter for use with the “Rock Band VR” guitar.

Oculus first previewed the Touch controller when it unveiled the consumer version of its Rift virtual reality headset some 18 months ago. However, the company was still working on refining the Touch experience, which is why the Rift headset began to ship in March without Touch controllers.

The availability of the Touch controller is a big step for Oculus to catch up with the HTC Vive and PlayStation VR, both of which have been shipping with handheld controllers since day one. It should also allow developers to bring more complex experiences to the Rift.

One example: The Fox Innovation Lab started to ship its “Martian VR Experience” for HTC Vive and PlayStation VR last month. However, the studio hasn’t launched the title on the Rift yet because of the need for hand-held controllers.

Oculus announced this week that a total of 53 titles will support Touch at launch.
