A lot can happen in 4.2 seconds. OK Go knows this all too well, with their incredible videos that are shaped out of moments stacked like a house of cards, each one precariously dependent upon the moment that came before. So, rather than stacking so many together, it seems that with this brand new video for “The One Moment,” they took 4.2 seconds worth of moments and really made them count.
The video, which is shown in real time before the “actual video,” takes place over 4.2 seconds and is stretched out using slow motion shot with high frame rate video. The chaos that normally erupts over three or four minutes in any other OK Go video happens here nearly all at once. What’s especially grin-inducing for me are the massive flip-books of their lead singer singing along with the song in time, without a single frame out of sync. If you’ve ever handled a flip-book, you’d know it’s super easy to “mess up” the animation by either letting your finger slip or gripping too hard. Here, though, it’s consistent and smooth and just … yeah, like I said, really well done.
If you noticed the big containers of Morton Salt in the background, that’s no coincidence. The video was actually shot for Morton Salt as part of their Walk Her Walk campaign. It’s a campaign that’s setting out to help create positive change in the world. There are a few projects under this umbrella (heh), most of which center around children and the arts.
