11 of the Best YouTube Channels for Coding and Programming

Coding and programming skills have earned an important place in the job market. With constantly innovating and evolving technologies, it’s not hard to see why.

However, plenty of people don’t understand the basics, nor can they afford courses to be taught coding. So, to that end, here are some fantastic (and free) YouTube channels to teach yourself the basics of programming languages.

What are some great YouTube channels to learn coding and programming?

The following are some examples of great coding and programming tutorials on YouTube. This list is far from exhaustive and is in no particular order.

1. Coding 101 is a very good source for coding knowledge

Coding 101 breaks down the absolute basics to make coding easy for the novice. They air new episodes every Thursday at 1:30 p.m. PST, and each video lasts 30 minutes. Coding 101 tries to condense lessons into six-week sessions.

2. Another good coding channel is CS Dojo

CS Dojo is another great resource on YouTube if you are looking to learn to code at your own pace. Hosted by YK, his channel is full of excellent little tutorials, overviews, and guides on different aspects of coding. 

3. Eli the Computer Guy is another excellent coding-based YouTube channel

Eli the Computer Guy goes over the basics of programming as well as interviewing some others in the business. He gives honest reviews of new products when they debut. Eli also does live stream events to answer questions.

4. Derek Banas will teach you a lot about coding too

Derek Banas does a fantastic job of making videos his viewership craves. His videos are a bit on the longer side (15-30 minutes for most), but he thoroughly explains everything. He makes sure to include all links in the description below to the software he uses too.

5. Fun Fun Function is both entertaining and educational

Fun Fun Function focuses largely on JavaScript and efficiently learning to program. The videos range in lengths from 15 minutes to an hour and a half, so it’s a mixed bag sure to give you plenty of information on your JavaScript needs.

6. ProgrammingKnowledge is another excellent resource for beginners

ProgrammingKnowledge is a great YouTube channel for beginners and seasoned professionals alike. Tutorials range from introductions to refreshers on languages such as Java, Python, C, and C++.

There is a wealth of video content on this channel and you are bound to find everything you need. 

7. Treehouse is full of useful programming and coding videos

Treehouse is the official YouTube channel for teamtreehouse.com. These guys are a learning resource that was established with the mission of making education affordable in the realm of technology.

Their YouTube channel offers excellent lessons in numerous coding languages including Python and C#.

8. Learncode.academy is a coding one-stop-shop for education

Hosted by Will Stern, Learncode.academy offers simple and clear lessons on web development. Each tutorial will walk you through things like Javascript and JQuery so that you will become an expert in no time at all.

This channel is highly recommended for beginners. 

9. DevTips is another awesome coding-related YouTube channel

Yet another excellent free coding resource on YouTube is DevTips. If you are interested in web design or want to improve your skills in this field, this is certainly the channel for you.

Lessons cover various related languages like CSS, HTML, and other relevant topics. 

10. Adam Khoury is a great resource for learning Javascript, PHP, and SQL

11. Mike Locke is a great resource for Front-end developers
