Hartford Names John Carson Interim Director of Athletics as Anton Goff Heads to St. John's University

University of Hartford Director of Athletics Anton Goff has been named to the same position at St. John's University, it was announced today. John Carson, Senior Advisor to the President for University Relations and a member of the Class of 1965, will take over as Interim Director of Athletics. A search for a permanent Director will be undertaken upon the conclusion of the University's presidential search in the coming months.

Goff has served as the leader of the intercollegiate athletics program since May 2014. In that time, he made several notable enhancements to strengthen the Hawks, most notably unveiling the school's new athletic logos and identity in July 2015. He also formed an exclusive partnership with Under Armour to design and supply the footwear, apparel and equipment for training and game-day uniforms for each of the university's 17 men's and women's athletic teams, and launched the school's fledgling women's lacrosse program.

"I would like to thank Anton for his service to the University of Hartford," University President Walter Harrison said. "Under his leadership, our student-athletes had numerous impressive achievements academically and athletically, and his leadership and energy infused the Department of Athletics with a new spirit of competitiveness and pride. On behalf of everyone at the University of Hartford, I would like to wish Anton and his family all the best in his new position."
