We were all excited when it was announced that 15-year-old Riri Williams would be the new Iron Man. Now, the variant covers for Invincible Iron Man #1 have arrived and Houston, we have a problem. As our own Teresa Jusino points out, J. Scott Campbell’s latest work hypersexualizes Williams, a trend all too familiar for many young black girls. Rather than listen, Campbell passed the outrage off as an “SJW whine-fest” and now Twitter is clapping back with its own hashtag started by @MizCaramelVixen. - Continuing their quest to revolutionize the divas division, WWE has announced that two women will appear in the main event of their next PPV. Yes, Sasha Banks will square off against Charlotte in the first-ever women’s Hell in a Cell match at, well, Hell in Cell on October 30. This also marks the first time a diva’s matchup will headline a main roster pay-per-view event. (via Bleacher Report)
- Netflix’s The Defenders has a neat tie to the Avengers movie—a similar working title. While the latter went into production under the name “Group Hug,” the Defenders took things a bit further with the title “Group Therapy.” (via Comic Book Resources)
- Michael Moore surprised everyone with a new doc called Michael Moore in Trumpland (which is not about Trump and which you should probably check out), but there’s another moving causing a stir in Hollywood. Loving is the story of real-life couple Richard and Mildred Loving, who were arrested for the horrific from of having an interracial marriage. The Hollywood Reporter explains why the film is so relevant today.
