CreativeLive, the online education startup that helps users get smarter about everything from photography to music to money, is getting smarter itself about how to deliver its vast array of information. The company announced today the launch of new apps for iPhone / iPad and Apple TV.

With the launch of a creative education “ecosystem,” CreativeLive is now providing access to more than 10,000 hours of video education from top experts to students accustomed to consuming media on the go and on TV.

Students can use the iPhone app to watch free live-streaming broadcasts and any classes they’ve already purchased. They can also select one free lesson of their choice per day from any class and get reminders for on-air broadcasts — from wherever they roam with their iPhone.

Through Apple TV, students can lean back and learn in comfort via lessons broadcast in stunning HD. They can watch what’s on-air for free or enjoy their purchased classes using a sleek new interface.

Founded in 2010, and working out of studios in Seattle and San Francisco, CreativeLive boasts more than 10 million students worldwide. There are live and pre-recorded classes in photography, video, design, music, craft and entrepreneurship taught by winners of Pulitzers, Grammys and Oscars along with best-selling authors and thought leaders.

“Building this seamless ecosystem was the next step in our ongoing service of the creative community,” CreativeLive CEO and founder Chase Jarvis said in a news release. “Our desktop experience has always been the most engaging education experience online, but now our students learn anywhere on the go with our iOS app. And with the Apple TV app, it’s just like being inside the classroom with the best teachers in the world. It’s immersive TV that’s good for you.”

Jarvis, a professional photographer out of Seattle, is well known in creative circles. Three years ago, as the company was landing a $21.5 million round of funding, Jarvis told GeekWire that he had a “big vision” for the company.

“We’ve been building a lot of infrastructure, and now we are poised to unleash the beast so to speak,” Jarvis said in November 2013.

Jarvis also made news recently when he opened up about the saga around his Best Camera app and its place in mobile photography as Instagram came to fame.

The new CreativeLive apps are free and available for download in Apple’s App Store.
