Get excited, because Missy IS going to be back on Doctor Who series ten.

Michelle Gomez, who plays the current incarnation of The Master, confirmed to The Music that she will be returning to the set of the BBC series once again.

"Weirdly, this is the sort of crunch week where I get to find out exactly what I'm going to be doing next," she said.

"I can officially say that I will be starting back on Doctor Who soon, so that's one thing."

Gomez previously said that she would be up for popping up in Doctor Who spin-off Class.

"I am an actor for hire, so if I'm free and it seems like the right thing to do at the time I'd grab it with both hands," she said.

Missy was last seen in 'The Magician's Apprentice' and 'The Witch's Familiar' in 2015.

She was abandoned on Skaro, where she came upon a room of angry Daleks.

Showrunner Steven Moffat recently suggested that fans shouldn't expect to see another multi-Doctor storyline in the near future. More specifically, it could be 47 years before the next one.

"We can't do it all the time. Not in my time on the show will that happen again, I wouldn't think," he said.

"I don't think we're going to do that again until whatever the next anniversary is, the 100th anniversary, which I've already told them I'm not going to do because I'm planning on having been dead for a while!"

Doctor Who will return this Christmas for a superhero-inspired special on BBC One.
