Watch: Assembling the Ideal Dessert Cart at the Restaurant Inside NYC's NoMad Hotel

Mini lemon meringue tarts, Brooklyn Blackout cake, and housemade chocolate bars make dessert a requirement

A lunchtime trip to the restaurant in the NoMad Hotel in New York City is worth it for dessert alone. Watch the video above to see how the super-stocked "tart cart" — which you can find wheeling around the dining room during the midday meal service — is crafted each day.

Pastry chef Mark Welker is the brains behind the NoMad's midday dessert spread, which includes such options as miniature lemon meringue tarts, a blueberry crumble with a buttery crust, a multi-tiered "Brooklyn Blackout" chocolate cake, and eye-catching violet macarons with fresh raspberry filling. The cart is topped off with a few of the NoMad's signature housemade chocolate bars, which are filled with salted caramel and, if you're lucky, a golden ticket. In the video above, watch Welker assemble each dessert item and load up the cart for the day's lunch service.
