PV Sindhu strikes Gold after Rio Silver

Rio Olympics silver medallist PV Sindhu has signed a multi-year deal with sports management company, Baseline. However, just like her coach Pullela Gopichand, Sindhu too has refused to endorse any Cola brand. (After Rio Silver, my life changed but I haven't: Sindhu to India Today)

According to a report in the Times of India, the three-year deal is said to be worth Rs 50 crore, highest by a non-cricketer.

Sindhu became the first-ever woman silver medallist from India at the Olympics when she finished runners-up in the singles badminton at the Rio Games, losing to Spain's Carolina Marin in the final.

Her glorious campaign helped her reap rewards, with several state governments felicitating her with cash rewards. Hyderabad District Badminton Association president V Chamundeshwarnath even gifted her and Gopichand BMW cars. (Sindhu, Sakshi, Dipa and Gopichand to be gifted BMW cars)

Sindhu was also conferred Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award last month for her achievement.

"Her soaring popularity has attracted the attention of so many companies. In the next three years, we will work to maximise her value. Even after achieving stupendous success, her humility and the value she brings to women power is remarkable," Tuhin Mishra, managing director and co-founder of Baseline, told Times of India.

Mishra said that Baseline has finalised nine companies, including women-centric brands.

"Ever since Sindhu returned from the Olympics, so many people have been approaching her. In the last few days we've had intense discussion on whom to endorse. So far we have finalised nine companies.

"We have finalised deals with financial institutions, women-centric brands etc. At this stage I cannot disclose the complete details," Mishra said. (Sindhu's secret to Rio Silver: Fitness sessions with boys)

Mishra has also ensured that Sindhu's practice time will not be affected and she will allocate very limited time for commercials.
