CARMEL, IN (WRTV/WCMH) – A hospital isn’t where many brides-to-be  envision their perfect wedding happening, but one Indiana woman made sure her special day was perfect, despite less-than-perfect circumstances.

“Came in single, leaving married, feeling so much better,” Kayla Jacobs told WRTV. Kayla had a horrible headache for more than a week, prompting a visit to the emergency room at Indiana University North Hospital. The doctors found a blood clot in her brain.

“They said later [it] could’ve been a lot worse,” said Matt Jacobs, Kayla’s new husband.

Kayla wasn’t going to let the blood clot stop her special day. Friends, family members and vendors came together and moved the ceremony from the original venue to the hospital chapel and the wedding party traded their tuxedos and dresses for hospital scrubs.

“I’ve been feeling like I was in a nightmare the last few days,” said Kayla mother. “And now I feel like I’m living a happy dream.”

The ceremony even kept the Harry Potter theme Kayla had planned.

“I’m so excited and happy,” Kayla said. “Because I really wanted to get married and I was so looking forward to this day, so I’m just ecstatic.”
