Today, September 28, 2016, Linux Mint project leader Clement Lefebvre proudly announced that the Linux Mint-powered Mintbox Mini tiny computer just got a lot better.

The fact of the matter is that he unveiled a brand new model, which is called "Mintbox Mini Pro" and comes as a worthy upgrade to the original Mintbox Mini computer, offering significantly much better specifications, such as better passive cooling. Best of all, it looks like production already started and you can pre-order yours right now.

"This new unit also features better passive cooling thanks to an all-metal black housing. It has an extra USB port (for a total of 2 USB 3.0 and 4 USB 2.0 ports) and we also spotted powered eSATA and a microSIM slot," says Clement Lefebvre. "Production started and Compulab started to take orders."

Technical specifications of Mintbox Mini Pro

Before hurrying up to grab your wallet, we would like to tell you a bit more about the Mintbox Mini Pro computer. First of all, its price starts from $395 (that's approximately €350), which means that you'll pay 100 bucks more for the new model when compared to the Mintbox Mini one.

But you'll pay $100 more for double of everything, as Mintbox Mini Pro comes with a 120GB SSD mSATA drive, 8GB RAM, an A10-Micro 6700T processor, Dual-HDMI AMD Radeon R6 graphics chip, dual Gigabit LAN, dual-band 802.11ac mini-PCIe wireless, and Bluetooth 4.0, something that the previous model didn't have.

Best of all, Mintbox Mini Pro comes with the latest Linux Mint 18 "Sarah" operating system pre-installed, the Cinnamon edition, but most probably you'll be able to order one with the MATE edition as well, or you can install it yourself. More information can be found here, and you can pre-order yours right now from here.
