#DRDS Podcast Ep 60: NFL Update Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints w/ Dave Choate & Bryan Bienemey

Its that time again. That time that reminds you that you used to watch Michael Vick and Aaron Brooks go at it. I figured it would be a good time to check in on the status of both the Atlanta Falcons and The New Orleans Saints This week on the podcast we bring friends of the program Dave Choate of The Falcoholic and Bryan Bienemy from the Shots Fired Podcast. With the teams not being that prominent at this time, it’s lost some of the intensity that put division tittles up for grabs but it doesn’t mean the fan bases have any less hatred toward one another.

This is the 10th year anniversary of the Gleason Punt that happened in the first game back in the  the now Mercedes Benz Superdome post Katrina. It also is looked at as the beginning of the success of the Drew Brees and Sean Peyton era that lead to the Super Bowl. As great as nostalgia is the Saints fans are just looking for a win or will be looking at an 0-3 start which could leave New Orleans as a prime candidate to bomb for Deshaun (Watson).

Atlanta Falcons

Question: Are the Falcons good?

ATLANTA, GA - DECEMBER 27: Julio Jones #11 of the Atlanta Falcons makes a catch for a touchdown over Luke Kuechly #59 of the Carolina Panthers during the second half at the Georgia Dome on December 27, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Scott Cunningham/Getty Images)

The verdict is still out on Dan Quinn and whether he is able to improve with  young remodeled defense?  We somehow after 6 good season are wondering whether Matt Ryan is good. We do know that the QB and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan had problems in the past and hopefully they have taken the last year and change to get more on the same page. Even though disagreements

with Quarterbacks seem to follow the  Shanahan where he goes. The only sure thing is Julio Jones. As Dave Dameshek would say he is the “Jenga piece” that would cause Atlanta to fall apart.

New Orleans Saints

Question: What is the next step for the New Orleans Saints.

From the whispers of 37 year old Drew Brees being traded to getting an extension in the same off season. We know the Saints have had defensive woes in the past and continue to struggle on that side of the ball. Kenny Vaccaro was looked at a bright spot not that long ago and Jairus Byrd was supposed to be a big free agent signikenny-vaccaro-oakland-raiders-v-new-orleans-f1c_yd6h7gslng and now have to hold it together with two rookies to stop Julio Jones this week. So what’s the move? Mickey Loomis and Sean Peyton seem to be in a safe place considering that they have survive the past 3 years and rumors that their jobs would end soon.
