If you’ve been making regular Google checks to see how many days there are left until Christmas – there’s now an app for that.
If you can’t be bothered to decorate your Christmas tree this year, John Lewis will do it for you
While someone has yet to crack how to add a countdown to a phone’s lock screen, there are several Christmas countdown apps now available from the App Store.
Most of the apps are fairly basic so far but new features are already being added, such as making snow fall on your screen and 3D glittering xmas trees.
Here are the best Christmas countdown apps for Apple iPhones and Android devices that Metro.co.uk has seen so far.
1) Christmas Countdown
This is by far our favourite. The app is a live wallpaper on Android phones and shows a large glittering tree in 3D that moves position with your phone. It’s got a countdown that explodes into dozens of brights stars when you tap it and has Christmas carols playing in the background. Nice.
The app is available for free but there is a premium version if you want different animations and added tweaks.
Get it on Google Play here and the App store if you have the latest version of IOS (we had trouble adding it as a wallpaper on iPhone).
2) Xmas! – Christmas Countdown
The best thing about this app is the live Santa Tracker (only available on Christmas Eve), Santa’s naughty list and actually being able to write a letter to Santa. However, it is worth noting that you’ll have to pay if you want to receive a reply… tap the countdown screen too for flakes of colourful snow.

3) Sleeps to Christmas
This is great for children. It is pretty simple to use and (if you can bare it) there are plenty of Christmas tunes to keep them entertained. Father Christmas makes an appearance in this one complete with snow and sign with the number of sleeps until Christmas.

4) Countdown!
This countdown app has the benefit of being able to customise your images, the wording in what you are counting down until and setting multiple countdowns at the same time.
There is both a free version with adverts or premium version available for a small free.

5) Christmas countdown 2016
This one is nice and festive and even has snow falling down the screen as it tells you the countdown in days, hours, minutes and seconds. It also gives you Christmas quotes every day, which you can share on Facebook etc.

6) Christmas 2016
There’s even more snow in this app, with the option to turn it off it is annoys the hell out of you. You can also change the theme, text colour and style in the settings as well as removing the adverts by downloading the premium version of the app.
