National Tree Lighting 2016: Lottery Deadline 10 a.m. Monday

James Taylor, Kelly Clarkson and more are set to perform. Lottery applications are due by 10 a.m. Monday.

The lottery for free tickets to the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Washington, D.C., ends at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 10. On Dec. 1, the National Park Foundation and National Park Service will present the 94th annual National Christmas Tree Lighting.

Popular entertainers and a U.S. military band will add to the celebratory evening when President Obama and his family light the National Christmas Tree on the Ellipse at President's Park (White House).

James Taylor has been added to this year's lineup, organizers announced this week. Other performers scheduled include Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper and Yolanda Adams. The National Christmas Tree Lighting will be telecast on the Hallmark Channel on Monday, Dec. 5, and simulcast on DirecTV 4K Ultra HD.

The tree lighting ceremony takes place Thursday, Dec. 1. Here's the scoop on the ticket lottery:

  • Tickets are free, but limited.
  • There is no charge for entering the lottery.
  • Only one application per household. All other applications will be voided without notice.
  • Ensure that your account contact information is correct and current. Your email address will be used for lottery and ticket communications.
  • Results will be available on Oct. 27. Emails will be sent after that date to the lottery winners with instructions for printing tickets.
