Day 1 of New York Fashion Week is officially underway, and Nicholas K kicked off the festivities debuting his spring/summer 2017 collection at the Skylight Moynihan Station in Manhattan. The New York based design team said they got his inspiration from the 2014 drama “Theeb,” about a young boy from the Bedouin tribe who must fight to survive after following his older brother into the Wadi Rum desert.

Nicholas K translated the film onto the runway dressing his models in neutral draped pants, long flowing capes, loose garments and oversized floppy hats. Everyone in attendance — including Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and “World War Z” star Eric West —kept their eyes glued to the dimly lit runway captivated by Nicholas K’s designs.
