The Sarah Jones Film Foundation is still forging ahead three years after the young camera assistant’s death on the set of Midnight Rider in Georgia. It is hosting two events this fall to promote set safety, the first being the third annual Walk for Safety held on September 25 in Los Angeles, beginning at the Santa Monica Pier at noon.
In Georgia on October 9, an Atlanta Field Day Event will take place to honor Jones’ life and bring together the TV and film community to keep up awareness about the importance of set safety. The Georgia event will be held at Oakhurst Park in Decatur, GA.
Jones’ parents, Elizabeth and Richard, will be in attendance at both events. “We are doing this so that people don’t forget,” said Richard Jones. “While we appreciate the legacy that Sarah has left, it’s not for Sarah, she’s already gone. This is for the living and so we don’t slip back into bad habits and ignoring safety standards on productions across the country.”
Photos from both events will be shared on the SafetyforSarah Facebook page.
