Thieves have stolen 150 lobsters worth more than £1000 from a Fife harbour.

The shellfish were taken from a sealed container, which was partially submerged.

It is believed the incident took place at Methil Docks between 1am and 5am on Monday.

Sergeant Craig Fyall said: "This might seem like a comical incident, but this is a fisherman's livelihood and he believes the lobsters to be worth around £1,300.

"It's likely they were handpicked from the container, so it would've been noticeable if anyone left the docks with that amount.

"If anyone remembers seeing anything suspicious, or has any relevant information, please contact police."

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
