Furniture Classics sales meetingSales training, design trends and group entertainment were among the highlights at Furniture Classics’ national sales meeting this month.

All of the company’s reps from across the United States and Canada gathered in Norfolk, Va., for the event, which also included a couple of extra days of training for some of the newest reps.

The meeting kicked off with a facility tour followed by intensive sales training, covering everything from order procedures, container procedures and marketing tools to merchandising, product information and distribution channels.

The following day included a look at design trends coming out of Paris and a few interactive exercises. A “speed dating” activity allowed reps to review questions and comments with rotating tables of office staff members, and a “price is right” game had reps guessing the wholesale price of new product introductions.

“We wanted something that was fun and also educational,” according to a press release about the meeting. “We had eight new introductions that they had never seen before. We asked them to guess the wholesale cost and whoever was the farthest away was eliminated. We even provided them with prizes for losing such as spam, marshmallow fluff and ranch dressing. It was a great way for them to see where price points were at in correlation to what they might be thinking.”
