Two women have been killed in separate incidents in Kisii County.

In Nyamache Sub-County, Mr Josek Arita, a casual labourer was arrested by police in connection with the death of his wife, Teresa Boisaberi, in Nyangusu Township.

Family members and neighbours said the couple had been having marital conflicts for the years they were together.

The deceased’s mother, Ms Martha Nyanchama, said she was away tilling her shamba when she was informed of the incident.

“One of my sons called me and broke the bad news that my daughter had been killed by my son-in-law,” she told Nation.co.ke.

“I rushed back home. We found her body outside their house. Blood was oozing out of the three deep wounds in her chest,” she said.

Ms Nyanchama said her daughter had confided to her that all was not well with their marriage.

“I did not know that it will end this way,” she said amid tears.

“She once told me that her husband had even threatened to kill her, but we brushed it off as a small domestic feud they could settle” she said.

FAILED TO GET JOB

Nyangusu OCPD Japheth Mwirichia said the suspect had left their house Wednesday morning to look for a job in the nearby sugarcane farms.

“He returned home after failing to secure one. We believe that is when the incident happened.

"We are still investigating what had transpired between them that led to him stabbing her three times in the chest,” he said.

The woman’s body was taken to Nyamache District Hospital mortuary.

Mr Mwirichia said the suspect will be arraigned in court as soon investigations are completed.

In another incident, a 17-year-old woman was also killed by a man who trailed her to her grandmother’s home in Suneka, Bonchari Sub-County.

Gesonso AP Commander David Mburukwe identified the girl as Ms Gertrude Chacha.

Mr Mburukwe said the suspect, Mr George Momanyi, went into hiding immediately after committing the act.

“We are following useful leads and soon he will be in custody to answer to murder charges,” said Mr Mburukwe.
