$1 rain protection: How to protect your gear from the elements with a garbage bag and rubber band

Do you have a camera in need of rain protection? Do you have $1? Great! You're in luck because you have enough money to solve your problem and protect your camera from the elements. Even when I'm using a camera with some built-in weather resistance, if it's raining or snowing particularly hard, I want to further protect the camera. Why take any chances, right?
Photographer Benjamin Jaworskyj has a clever, simple and affordable solution that requires only a plastic bag, your lens hood and a rubber band. You screw your lens hood onto your lens, put the plastic bag over the lens and camera, snap the rubber band on behind the lens hood and rip a hole in the bag so that you can shoot through your lens.
This may seem straightforward, and it is -- that's part of its appeal! Dedicated rain covers for your camera and lenses can get quite pricey, so it's nice to know that you can run to a local store, grab garbage bags for next to nothing and have a collection of rain covers ready to go for years to come.
