Announcing Cost Allocation Tagging for Amazon CloudFront

Posted on: Aug 9, 2016

We are pleased to announce that you can now add cost allocation tags to your Amazon CloudFront distributions. Tags make it easier for you to allocate costs and optimize spending by categorizing and grouping AWS resources. For example, you can use tags to group resources by administrator, application name, cost center, or a specific project.

To support our Tagging release, the “Resource ID” column of the Detailed Billing Report with Resources and Tags and the “Resource” column of the AWS Cost and Usage Report will show an Amazon Resource Name (ARN) rather than an Amazon CloudFront Distribution ID which is currently what populates this field. This migration to ARN will help you to specify a resource unambiguously across all of AWS.

To learn more about cost allocation tagging, see Using Cost Allocation Tags. To learn more about Amazon CloudFront, see the Amazon CloudFront product page. If you are ready to add tags to you CloudFront distributions, see Amazon CloudFront Add Tags page.

We also invite you to join our monthly office hours where CloudFront engineers will be available to answer questions and to share best practices. Monthly office hours occur on the LAST Tuesday of the month. The August office hours session will be on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, 10:00AM PDT and you can register here.
