School is like a home away from home for teachers and students alike. So leave it to Chip and Joanna Gaines to put their magic touch on a Waco, Texas, classroom.

HGTV's Fixer Upper stars recently paired with a local magazine, the Wacoan, to give a sixth grade teacher's classroom a complete makeover — complete with shiplap, flower boxes, organizational units and finally, a little more shiplap.

Locals nominated Arelena Nixon, a math teacher at Tennyson Middle School.

"More than anything, she was excited for her kids. That was what mattered to her the most," Joanna explained on her blog. "She knew a fun classroom would make her sixth graders excited about coming to math class."

Any teacher looking at the photos above can tell you some of these decorations wouldn't fly in school. But Joanna offers tips to "Fixer Upper-fy" a classroom.

"Not every school district will let you hang shiplap or build window awnings in your room, but everyone can plant a succulent garden in a window, put down an area rug to warm up all of the white or use interesting containers to keep the room organized," Joanna wrote.

And on the bright side, at least the Gaineses don't have to worry about Ms. Nixon listing the remodel on Airbnb. Take a look around the classroom:
