'MythBusters' Build Team to return in new Netflix series
Grant Imahara, Kari Byron and Tory Belleci will host a new unscripted show about weird science and unusual tech.
You can't keep a good build team down. Ever since the M7 Build Team of Grant Imahara, Kari Byron and Tory Belleci were dropped from "MythBusters" in 2014, fans have been eager to see the trio in action again.
This Saturday, Belleci tweeted that their new show called "The White Rabbit Project" will debut globally to Netflix on December 9, after the news was announced at Dragon Con earlier in the day.
"The White Rabbit Project" will see the three hosts follow Alice in Wonderland's example and "go down a rabbit hole" to investigate weird events in pop culture, science and history, Deadline reported on Sunday.
The trio will dissect superpower tech, criminal heists, jailbreaks and unusual war weapons, just to name a few topics. While it may sound similar to "MythBusters" in that the team will conduct experiments, builds and tests to figure out the science behind these topics, the format will not be exactly the same.
"Contrary to internet chatter, there will be no 'busting of myths' on 'The White Rabbit Project' for Grant Imahara, Tory Belleci & my new show," co-host Byron tweeted on Sunday.
The original Netflix series will be created by Beyond Productions -- the same producers responsible for "Mythbusters."
Little else is known about the new series, but the three hosts had been tweeting hints using the hashtag #SecretShow as far back as March of this year.
Previously, Byron and Belleci teamed up last year for their short-lived Travel Channel show "Thrill Factor" where they tested roller coasters and more in the name of science. Meanwhile, Imahara has hosted McDonald's infomercials and crafted impressive superhero gear for Mouser Electronics.
This will mark the first time the three have reunited since "MythBusters" to host a show together.
