Kan. Woman Receives Racist Letter: 'This Neighborhood Does Not Need Any Blacks In It'

Nancy Wirths received an anonymous, racist letter Monday stating that black people were not welcome in her Wichita, Kan., neighborhood, KSN.com reports.

Wirths says that the handwritten letter was an attack on her and her biracial family—six of her nine grandchildren are African American.

“I look over my shoulder. I watch. The kids aren’t allowed to be outside,” she said.

According to KSN.com, police say that the person behind the letter could receive a disorderly conduct charge.

"We have noticed there are some black children at your residence," the letter reads. "Maybe you are running a daycare or these are your children. In either case, we have put our house for sale. This neighborhood does not need any blacks in it."

Wirths was baffled by the situation and the hateful words. "It doesn’t matter if they’re brown, purple,” she said. “It’s just a shame that they have taken the innocence away from the children."
