The Great North Run is the world’s most popular half marathon, welcoming 57,000 runners from over 130 different countries. Founded in 1981 by former British Olympian and 10,000 metre bronze medallist, Brendan Foster, it continues to grow as one of the biggest internationally involved events.

A point-to-point race from Newcastle to South Shields, The Great North Run will see participants travel through Gateshead and South Tyneside as they approach the finish line. Along the way, they will cross the iconic Tyne Bridge to the roar of the crowds as they further their journey to the beautiful coast of South Tyneside.

Great North Run Events & Amazing Ticket Giveaway!!

The Great North Run is more than just a weekend, it is a culture and it comprises of a whole host of events such as: The Great North 5k, the pasta party, the Mini and Junior Great North Runs and also the Great North CityGames.

This year will see the first major fundraising event of the newly-formed Graham Wylie Foundation and some of the leading names in music will perform at the launch of the inaugural Run, Rock n Raise, ‘Making Every Note Count’, concert.

We're really excited that our very own home grown Whitley Bay band Lisbon is the latest act to join the line-up for the Graham Wylie Foundation’s Run, Rock n Raise gig.

The alternative four-piece formed four years ago when members Matty Varty, Gaz Turkington, Alex Wright and Joe Atkinson got together while they were at sixth form at Whitley Bay High School.

Already, they have released six singles and a debut EP and have just finished their second UK tour of 2016.

Now, the quartet is set to join the Kaiser Chiefs and Irish rock band Kodaline at Run, Rock n Raise on the evening of September 11, the day of the Great North Run in a charity gig that is raising money for the Graham Wylie Foundation, the Teenage Cancer Trust and music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins. All money raised will stay in the region.

Here at Ewan Bramley Dental Clinic we're delighted to announce that we have 2 tickets to give away for this event at the Metro Radio Arena on Sunday 11 September at 6.30pm.  To be in with a chance of winning just email nicky@ewanbramley.com with the heading Run Rock n Raise tickets...  We will choose a winner at random on Friday 10 September and will let the winner know via email.  Good luck everyone!

Also, good luck to all our patients (and staff members!) participating in this year's Run!  Go people!

A new study has shown that tooth infections could lead to heart disease!

The study, carried out by the University of Helsinki’s Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Diseases (in conjunction with the Heart and Lung Centre at Helsinki University Hospital), demonstrates how an infection of the root tip of a tooth can increase the chance of developing coronary artery disease.

Hidden dental root tip infections are extremely commonplace, and even those that do not show symptoms could lead to more serious issues down the line. One in four suffers from these infections in Finland alone, with most only discovered by chance thanks to unrelated x-rays.

We would like to say congratulations to all our lovely patients who managed to grab themselves a bargain - as well as support the launch of our very own Ewan Bramley branded Clear Aligners!

We ran an offer throughout the month of August whereby you could get up to £270 off the cost of this treatment. We were overwhelmed with the response and look forward to giving many of you the smile you've always wanted at a price you are no doubt very happy with!

Our Clear Aligners (invisible braces) will be cheaper than anywhere else because we now have the technology to be able to manufacture them ourselves on site thereby cutting down on time and middle man fees! With our new 3D Trios Scanner and Printer, there is also no need for messy impression taking, and it's much more accurate ensuring you get the result you want.

And if that's not amazing enough, our technology allows you to see the finished result before the treatment even begins. If you missed out on the offer don't worry - come and see us as you will still be getting a better deal than anywhere else - we can guarantee that.  Also, if you're on a plan with us, you will qualify for 10% off in any case. Book in for a free consultation with our brace expert Chris and find out more about it.....
