WME has acquired Rabineau Wachter Sanford & Gillett (RWSG) Literary Agency, the talent agency announced on Monday.
Founded in 2000, RWSG works with authors and writers of film and television to help bring their stories to the screen. Many iconic works of literature have been adapted through RWSG, including the upcoming films “The Girl on the Train” and “The Snowman,” and previously “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” and “Diary of a Wimpy Kid.” Its television projects include “The Leftovers,” “Olive Kitteridge,” and the upcoming “Berlin Station.”
A sampling of RWSG co-represented authors include Megan Abbott, Roxane Gay, Sara Gran, Paula Hawkins, Denis Johnson, Jo Nesbo, Tom Perrotta, Gary Shteyngart, Olen Steinhauer, Elizabeth Strout, Tony Tost, Ayelet Waldman, Jess Walter, and Hanya Yanagihara. Additionally, RWSG represents creators of comics, graphic novels, and web comics, such as Jeff Kinney (“Diary of a Wimpy Kid”), Kazu Kibuishi (“Amulet” series), Scott McCloud (“The Sculptor”), and Patrick McDonnell (“Mutts”).
RWSG principals Sylvie Rabineau and Jill Holwager Gillett will be joining the agency as co-heads of WME’s book to film/TV division as well working in both the film and television literary departments. RWSG’s Geoffrey Sanford will also be coming on board, and will continue to represent his roster of authors and New York-based co-agents.
