NY Now honored the winners of the Accent on Design Awards during this week’s summer market, recognizing product design excellence, innovation and creativity.

The winners are all exhibitors in the market’s juried Accent on Design section of contemporary designers and their products, which can be seen through Wednesday at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

The summer 2016 Accent on Design Award winners are:

Overall Excellence: Yield is an independent design studio, design label and manufacturer. The company designs and produces a range of bags, jewelry and goods for the home with an aim to pair American craft and ingenuity with an eye toward the future.

Best Collection – Soft Goods: Louise Gray pays homage to the tradition of quilting by creating beautiful, contemporary heirlooms. Dedicated to fostering sustainable manufacturing practices, each design is handcrafted by local artisans in Minneapolis.

Best Collection – Industrial Design: Founded by Lorenzo Martone and designed in New York City, Martone Cycling Co produces design- and style-driven city bikes, each one sporting a signature red chain, along with fashionable and functional accessories.

“If you want to experience the cutting edge of design, NY Now’s Accent on Design section is the place to be, and the winners of the Accent on Design Awards continue to innovate and deliver the best in contemporary design and functionality,” said Randi Mohr, co-director and vice president, NY Now. “Congratulations to Martone Cycling Co, Louise Gray and Yield, and we look forward to seeing your continued success.”

Presented as part of NY Now’s Home Collection, Accent on Design’s 175 contemporary designers are culled through a set of juried acceptance criteria including originality, creativity and authentic product design; new and innovative use of materials; products which address and solve problems; consistent and continuous new product creations; a focus on contemporary design; and functionality.
