A good writeup on Sam Phillips, the guy who brought us Elvis and a few other guys. "If you are not doing something different, you are not doing anything at all." Well said Sam, well said.

I have been to Sun Studio. For such a small place, it is strangely fascinating to stand where giants have stood before you.

I was in Memphis for the K-State vs. Arkansas game in January. We made it to a couple of attractions and one of the ones we ran out of time for was Sun Studios. It was a bummer because I really wanted to see it, but we ended up checking out the Martin Luther King museum which I have to say was one of the best museums I have been to.

I have been to Studio B in Nashville where Elvis recorded a lot of his albums and that was pretty incredible to see in real life.

The first part of the tour did not do much for me. They put you in a room full of memorabilia and give you some background info. But when you actually walk into the studio, you get this awesome sensation knowing that you are standing on hallowed ground. At one point, the guide said, "Look down and see if one of you is standing on an X. That is the very spot where Elvis recorded "Blue Suede Shoes." I was the one standing on the X. Made my hair stand up.

It's pretty great and amazing that the studio is still around after all these years. Hopefully I can make it over there again before anything changes. I agree, there's something about standing in the place where such historical events took place. It's a weird feeling.
