DIY Confetti Plates with Dollar Store Supplies

These DIY confetti plates are made using tissue paper, dollar store supplies, and Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge. They’re perfect for parties!

Skills Required: Beginner. This is great for beginners because the confetti you’ll make is small. Just don’t brush over the tissue too many times or it will start releasing dye.

DIY confetti plates with Mod Podge

Decorate an inexpensive plate with tissue paper and Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge in this unique dollar store craft! It’s so easy and the perfect way to add a little seasonal decor to your table for fall or whatever season it happens to be! A DIY confetti plate also an awesome party craft, for before or during your shindig.

I wouldn’t necessarily eat off these plates because I don’t know how long lasting the Mod Podge is after multiple washes, but it’s perfect for a platter or decorative piece – and you can wash it off when needed.

Decoupage Plates

Here’s what you will need:

  • Tissue Paper
  • Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge
  • White Plate
  • Sponge Brush
  • Scissors
Tissue paper cut into thin strips with scissors

Cut your tissue paper into thin strips and then randomly cut the strips into various sizes of small rectangles. I chose colors that would work for fall but also carry over into other seasons as well.

Working in sections, brush on a thin later of Mod Podge and then adhere the strips of tissue paper, overlapping them.

Once you like how the tissue paper is placed, brush one more layer of the Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge on top to seal everything in.

Let it fully dry and add another coat of Mod Podge if you feel like there are some spots that need extra coverage.

I like this project and did it with my grandchild today. She's only 5 - perfectly do-able for someone that age - and she made it for her Mom and then gave it to her when she returned from working in Manhattan. ModPodge drys quickly and the project can be done and completed in an afternoon. My daughter loved this project that her little girl made and I liked it too !! Georgia
