First Lady Michelle Obama delivered a powerful speech on Monday's opening evening of the Democratic National Convention. As seen at the 1:22 mark of the video, a particularly poignant moment came when she noted, "I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves."

Fox news commentator Bill O'Reilly followed-up with details about the assortment of workers who built the home for America's First Families, remarking that, "Slaves that worked there were well-fed and had decent lodgings provided by the government, which stopped hiring slave labor in 1802." (1:03 mark of the video.)

As might be expected, many took issue with the suggestion of any decent treatment of people who were forced into slavery.

One of them was one of Broadway's great performers, Audra McDonald. While the six-time Tony Award winner, most recently seen in SHUFFLE ALONG, is taking it easy during her pregnancy, she took time on Twitter to school O'Reilly on some of the realities of slavery.
