BRIDGETON -- Cumberland County Library held a dedication celebration on Aug. 10 for its new Cumberland County Library and Lowe's Community Garden. Myron Estelle, director of the library, cut the ribbon dedicating the garden along with some of the 18 members of the Lowe's team who installed the garden.
The Cumberland County Library was given the honor of being selected the Lowe's Community Project Award recipient this summer. With a donation from Lowe's, the library now has a beautiful new garden area for patrons to read in and enjoy. Members of Lowe's Heroes Project arrived Aug. 5 and broke ground on the Lowe's Community Garden at the Cumberland County Library.
Erin Phillips from the Lowe's Corp. was director of the project. Along with Phillips, the loyal staff from Lowe's created the garden and donated all materials and time to complete the project. Please join the library in thanking and supporting them for their wonderful gift to the community and library.
Following the dedication ceremony a mixed media art show was held that featured works of children who attended the Summer Reading Program. The children's artwork, inspired by Degas, and 3-D art created at Steamworks students are on display. The festivities were highlighted by a musical performance by students from Camp M.I.2.
Cumberland County Library's Children's Program Coordinator Christina Campbell, noted that the library's summer reading program participants artwork is on display in an exhibit entitled "Art All Around." Stop by the library to view all the beautiful artwork, the display will be available through Sept. 10. A special thank you goes out to Jennifer R. Bates, My Path Inspired, who instructed the children.
