A Spiritual Workout

The labor of exercise helps removes the bad—excess calories, toxins and stress. Strengthening actions manipulate the muscles to tone and lengthen. While cardio enhances blood and oxygen flow, both get the endorphins rushing. Top that all off with the ultimate promises—to feel more energized, happier, and get an all-over glow.

Never has that been more true than in the new—and super difficult—“The Class,” a spiritual cardio workout method that has quickly become NYC and LA’s status sweat session. (Why hello, early devotees Naomi Watts and Christy Turlington!) Sessions, which are 45, 60 or 75 minutes, are best described as boot camp meets yoga. A key to “The Class,” which is set to energizing music, is to always keep moving, no matter your fitness level. It’s about bringing cognizance to change your habits—physically and spiritually—for the better.

Instructors not only lead in movement, they also encourage positive self-awareness and talk throughout the uber sweaty sessions. Each concludes with a rest phase to help fortify the spiritual awakenings and fit accomplishments. taryntoomey.com
