“Transparent” creator Jill Soloway has been set as a keynote speaker for the South by Southwest Conference and Festivals, set for March 10-19.

SXSW announced Monday that geneticist Jennifer Doudna, co-inventor of the CRISPR-Cas9 technology for editing genes, would be another keynote speaker.

The 31st iteration of the Austin-based festival announced its first wave of speakers for the 2017 event with selections from the tech, film, music, television, business, sports and journalism fields. Speakers include Mary Lou Jepsen, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Candice Morgan, Adam Savage, Nadya Tolokonnikova, Ingrid Vanderveldt, Dan Lyons, Gary Vaynerchuk and Amber Venz Box.

The festival also said its Interactive, Film and Music badges will now include expanded access to more of the SXSW Conference & Festivals experience.

“When SXSW Music added Film, and Interactive, it was relatively easy to understand and differentiate between the three components of music, film, and technology,” said Roland Swenson, SXSW Co-founder. “Today, these elements are very much intertwined and the lines that once separated them have become blurred. The popularity of our convergence programming, and the increasingly cross-industry nature of our SXSW speakers and registrants make this a natural progression as we look to the future.”

Soloway won an Emmy for directing “Transparent.” Her first feature, “Afternoon Delight,” won the 2013 Directing Award at Sundance.

Lyons is the author of “Disrupted: My Misadventure in the Start-Up Bubble,” and a former writer on HBO’s “Silicon Valley,” which had its world premiere at SXSW.

Johnson is an NBA Hall of Famer, part owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chairman and CEO of Magic Johnson Enterprises. Tolokonnikova is a Russian conceptual artist, political activist and member of punk rock group Pussy Riot.

Vaynerchuk is CEO of VaynerMedia, an angel investor and co-founder of the VaynerRSE investment fund. Box is co-founder and president of rewardStyle and the cross-channel consumer shopping service, Liketoknow.it.

SXSW will open for registration on Aug. 1.
