Former Buckeyes pay tribute to retiring Ohio State coach Urban Meyer
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Former Ohio State University football players took to Twitter Monday to pay tribute outgoing coach Urban Meyer.
Michael Thomas, a wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints, said he “shed a tear” when he thinks about Meyer’s impact.
Former Buckeyes linebacker Joshua Perry talks about how influential Meyer is in his life.
Other former Buckeyes players shared their thoughts on the news of Meyer’s retirement.
The 54-year-old is stepping down from coaching the Buckeyes after Ohio State’s bout in the Rose Bowl against the University of Washington Huskies.
Ryan Day, the team’s co-offensive coordinator, will take over as head coach after the Rose Bowl.
Meyer and Ohio State University officials have a press conference scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday to officially announce the decision.
