The Black Fox (Lambeth Group Thriller #3) by Gordon Bickerstaff

From Goodreads

Zoe Tampsin is resourceful, smart and Special Forces-trained, but she has been given an impossible mission.

She has to protect scientist, Gavin Shawlens, from assassination by the CIA, and discover the secret trapped in Gavin's mind that the CIA want destroyed.

As the pressure to find Shawlens escalates – the CIA send Zoe's former mentor to track her down and her fate seems sealed when he surrounds Zoe and Gavin with a ring of steel. With each hour that passes, the ring is tightened, and the window for discovering Gavin's secret will shut.

Zoe is faced with a decision that goes against all of her survival instincts. If she is wrong – they both die. If she is right – she will discover the secret and become the next target for assassination.

Run for your life…

My thoughts

My thanks to Emma of Dampppebbles Blog tours for the opportunity to take part in the blog tour of this book.  I gave this a 4 stars or 8/10.

This is the third in the Lambeth Group thriller series featuring Zoe Tampsin a female agent and Gavin Shawlens a scientist.  I have read and previously enjoyed the first two in the series, Deadly Secrets and Everything to Lose.  I have also read others in the series and actually read some of the later stories before reading these.  That has in no way marred my enjoyment of them at all as they can be read as standalone reads.  Whilst it makes sense to read a book series in order, they can easily be read out of order, but why would you do that intentionally?

In The Black Fox, Zoe Tampsin is as always at the heart of all the action.  In this instalment of the Lambeth Group Thriller series, she is tasked with protecting Gavin Shawlens a scientist, who the CIA are after.  It is the intention of the CIA to try and assassinate Gavin, due to something that has happened in the past and is hidden in the recesses of his mind!  As the story progresses, Gavin begins to have flashbacks of what has happened in the past, can all be revealed and if it is what consequences will it have for him and those around him?

I am really enjoying this series and enjoy my time spent among the pages of each story as it progresses.   Zoe is quite a determined agent and her heart is always in the right place, as she goes by in her day to day work.  She knows right from wrong and does her best to maintain that principle.  I really enjoy the interaction between her and Gavin.

Gordon Bickerstaff draws you into the world of the Lambeth Group.  He has created a female character that would sit well among the pages of an Ian Fleming book.

Can the CIA get to him and prevent things being revealed or is Zoe and her team successful at keeping him below the radar and out of danger?  To answer this, you will need to grab a copy for yourself, settle yourself somewhere comfy with a brew and allow yourself to be sucked into the world of Zoe and her accomplices as they try to keep one step ahead of the CIA.
