FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) - A sailboat washed up on Folly Beach Sunday.

The captain of the vessel was unfamiliar with the area and ended up on the beach early Sunday morning, according to Coast Guard Sector Charleston officials. The man made emergency call outs and the Coast Guard responded along with Folly Beach Public Safety.

He is staying at an area hotel until he can try to refloat the vessel on Thursday, officials said.

The Coast Guard also checked the boat for any holes or potential pollution caused by the beached boat and didn't find any, officials said.
