Fusion claim first game of Summer Cup

Chippewa Falls played host for the inaugural Big Rivers Summer Cup and played St. Croix Valley in the opening game.  CFM's Lexy Dresel scored the only goal of the first period at 14:51, while on the power play with an assist from Megan Klass.  Caroline O'Dell collected 10 saves in goal for CFM, while Olivia Kulnd had 2 saves for SCV.

The second period found the Fusion tying the game at 1 on an unassisted goal by Kamryn Jacobs.  Chippewa Falls went on the power play with 6:10 remaining in the period.  However, it was the Fusion that scored 12 seconds into the penalty as Anna Albrightson scored with an assist from Kamryn Jacobs.  The Fusion led 2-1 at the end of two periods.  Kulnd collected 8 saves in the period and O'Dell stopped 8 shots also.

St. Croix Valley opened the scoring 40 seconds into the third period, when Kamryn Jacobs scored with an assist from Jordan Erickson.  Abbie Delong increased the Fusion lead to three with an unassisted goal at 7:13 of the third.  Albrightson completed the scoring with a backhand topshelf goal with 8:57 remaining in the third.  Sidney Seeley played the third period in net for the Fusion and had 2 saves, while O'Dell stopped another 14 shots.

The Fusion won 5-1.

Stars win high scoring outing against Raiders

In a game that would prove to be the highest scoring game of the day, the ECA Stars took on the Hudson Raiders.  Abigail Stow put  ECA on top at 9:01 of the first with an assist from Lauren Carmody.  The Raiders tied the game at 14:44 of the first on a goal by Taylor Wanschneider assisted by Natalie Miller.  The first period concluded with the game tied at 1.

Hudson took the lead at 4:01 of the second, when Molly Schuett scored an unassisted goal.  The Stars answered 17 seconds later with an unassisted goal by Abigail Stow.  Ava Kison put the Stars in the lead at 10:28 with an assist from Annika Olson.  Twenty-six second later Abigail Stow completed the hat trick with Charlotte Akervik assisting on the play.  ECA's Jaiden Sullivan assisted by Abigail Stow finished the scoring in the second period with 19 seconds left on the clock.  The Stars led 5-2 at the end of two.

Lauren Carmody assisted by Charlotte Akervik increased the lead to 4 for the Stars at the 2:30 mark of the third.  ECA went up by 5 as Abigail Stow assisted by Lauren Carmody made the score 7-2.  Just when it looked like the Stars may have put the game away, Hudson started to make a move.  Lexie Nelson assisted by Katie Meierotto on a power play made it 7-3 at 4:12 of the period.  Hudson kept pushing and at 13:27 Hana Hellmers converted another power play opportunity to make it 7-4.  The Raiders' Dani Robson with an assist by Mallory Thompson cut the deficit to 2 with 2:09 left in the game.  The Raiders knew they were going to need to work hard to try and tie the game.  The pulled their goalie and ECA took advantage as Ava Kison put the puck in the empty net to complete the scoring.  ECA defeated Hudson 8-5.

Raiders win nail biter over Fusion

Hudson and St. Croix Valley kicked off the third varsity game of the day.  The Fusion scored quickly as Kamryn Jacobs scored an unassisted goal 20 seconds into the game.  Hudson tied the game at 3:28 of the first period, when Lexie Nelson scored an unassisted goal.  The game was tied at one at the end of one.

Lexie Nelson scored what proved to be the final goal of the game with 10:58 remaining in the second period.  Both teams kept the offensive pressure, but the goaltenders were up to the task.

The Raiders claimed a 2-1 win over the Fusion.

ECA claim hard fought win over Chippewa Falls/Menomonie

The final varsity game on the opening day found the ECA Stars playing the CFM Cardinals.  The Stars took advantage of a power play opportunity at 2:48 of the first when Abigail Stow scored assisted by Charlotte Akervik.  ECA's Ava Kison with an assist from Annika Olson boosted the lead to 2 at 7:44 of the period.  CFM kept the game close as the scored at the 10:06 mark as Cailin Armstrong coverted a power play with Lexy Dresel and Megan Klass assisting on the goal.  The Stars led 2-1 at the end of the first period.

Charlotte Akervik assisted by Lauren Carmody put the ECA Stars up 3-1 at 10:56 of the second period.  CFM's Sydney Polzien was able to cut the deficit to one with an assist by Kaylee Frenette at 10:06 of the second.  The Cardinals tied the game up with 20 seconds remaining in the period on an unassisted goal by Sydney Polzien.

Abigail Stow scored an unassisted goal as ECA took the lead at 5:16 of the third.  The Stars completed the scoring at 12:10 of the third with a power play goal by Ava Kison assisted by Charlotte Akervik and Abigail Stow.  The Stars won 5-3.
