Hello!<br><p>July has rolled around, making me another year old and presumably wiser, but we shall have to wait and see on that front.</p><br><p>I'm just dropping in to announce July's project, which will be transforming these two Funko DIY figures into works of Dreams of Ego art.  </p><p></p><br><p></p><p>If you don't know Funko figures, they are pretty much everywhere these days - a simplistic humanoid shape that is recoloured and slightly altered to fit any Pop culture character you can think of.   With different rarities, they fetch a wide variety of prices and are a good example of the current rise of geek-dom into the mainstream.</p><br><p>There is also a side-line in people creating  their own figures, which seems to range from spray-painting existing figures in metallic shades, through painting 'alternative costumes' and creating figures for films, TV shows and comics that Funko haven't officially licensed yet.</p><br><p>To aid in this, Funko sell blank figures, which I will be turning into two characters that show up in my work from time to time - the Locksmith and Mr Teeth.  It's a process that will go from initial sketches, through sculpture, sealing, painting with oils, sealing again and maybe even some gold leaf to create completely unique, high quality figures.</p><br><p>I will be posting progress shots on social media throughout the month and ending with a patron-only step by step tutorial on the process.  The finished pieces will be coming with me to Newcastle Comic-Con in November, which should hopefully attract some attention to my table and I hope, interest some collectors.</p><br><p> </p>
