HERSHEY, Pa (WHTM)–A program that provides healthy foods to families in need got some extra help this week.

On Thursday, a group of medical students from Taiwan and the Republic of Georgia helped the “Cubs Caring for Our Community.” The program is run by nurses at Penn State Hershey Medical Center at the Farmer’s Market in Hershey. The goal of the program is to encourage people to bring extra fruits and vegetables for families in the community in need. Children then decorate the bags that are given to the families.

The three students are participating in a two-week program in public health systems on the Penn State College of Medicine campus.

The Farmer’s Market in Hershey is open every Thursday from 2:30-6:30 p.m. on the grounds of the Cocoa Beanery along Bullfrog Valley Road.
