American Express Reportedly Suing Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne is being sued by credit card company American Express over $86,396.75 in unpaid bills dating back to last December.
Lil Wayne is back in the headlines, once again for something outside of his music. According to TMZ, Weezy is being sued by credit card company American Express over $86,396.75 in unpaid bills dating back to last December.
The report says that AmEx is suing for the full amount of the unpaid bill in addition to legal fees related to the lawsuit. Requests for comment from reps for Lil Wayne and American Express went unreturned as of press time.
Unfortunately, Wayne is no stranger to lawsuits, nor to allegations of unpaid bills. Back in December 2014, he filed a lawsuit against Birdman and Cash Money Records over the delays of his album Tha Carter V, seeking $51 million in advances and payments; a year later, a lawyer who helped represent him in that case turned and sued Wayne for $375,000 in unpaid legal fees related to the case.
Then last September, a judge ordered Wayne to pay $2 million in back payments to a private jet company, according to TMZ. And this March, Wayne sued Universal Music Group, which distributes Cash Money and Young Money releases, for up to $40 million over unpaid royalties generated from releases by Young Money artists Nicki Minaj, Drake and Tyga.
