"Rhythm Violence" VR Game Game Thumper Gets October Release Date, Collector's Edition

by Blake Hester on Jun 29, 2016 at 12:15 PM

The game Thumper will be releasing on October 13, developer Drool announced today. It will be available for PlayStation VR and on Steam.

This "Rythm Violence" game puts players in control of a space beetle, fighting its way through a void to face a "maniacal giant head from the future." It's bright, crazy, and kind of hurts your eyes to look at.

Drool also announced a collaboration with iam8bit to bring out a collector's edition of the game, featuring a picture disc vinyl of the game's soundtrack with art from Robert Beatty, shown below.

Our Take

Thumper's absorbing and intense gameplay has been on our radar for awhile, and should make for a solid launch game for Sony's PlayStation VR. As impractical as the collector's edition is, it's still pretty darn cool.
