The latest intel regarding the next generation of Nexus smartphones for 2016 pegs HTC as the designer of choice for Google. That isn't a new rumor, but we have some additional details with new specifics.

The codenames for the two Nexus phones from HTC are Marlin and Sailfish, and they will supposedly both be based on the same core architecture as the new HTC 10 flagship. The primary difference is that the phones will include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset instead of the 820 found in the HTC 10.

The Snapdragon 821 is simply a slightly refreshed upgrade to the 820, which includes various optimizations and efficiency upgrades, as well as a higher clock speed. No other details where shared by the source of this intel, but we will keep a watchful eye for anything else.

Oh that sucks. Guess I'm keeping my 6P.

I said that last year when it was rumored Huawei would make the next Nexus and we see what I'm typing on now. I'll wait before I say anything.

I think they should have waited for the Qualcomm 830 to come out and perhaps released the latest Nexus spring of 2017 to compete with the latest Galaxy S. Once again they'll be behind the 8 ball in terms of their flagship status. It's one of the reasons why Nexus has never been a top selling device in the grand scheme.
Just my 2 cents of course.
Maybe HTC will finally knock it out of the park, but I'm doubtful.

The only advantage these phones will have is Freedom of usual Nexus OS treatment. Seems like a waste to get marginal newer Hardware on what should be Elite Phones. I'm still waiting for Santa to leave a Moto Droid Force in my stocking.

I like this variant better than the 6p or 5x. It is closer to the perfection of the Moto Nexus 6, hopefully they wont make it a 6" phone, which kept me from the 6. My 5x is nice, but will enjoy an upgrade once this releases. If only Moto would release a phone that works on Fi or Fi allow a Moto device on its network.

That's my interest. I love the Nexus 6p but would love even more a phone that is 5.1-5.2 inches.

Call me crazy but ever since a friend gave me a Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 that i use with Free Ringplus service, i really like the large screen and would love a phone that size with high end specs and shatterproof display and Id be stoked.
