TW drops 7-2 decision in CCM title game

The Team Wisconsin Girls squad was hoping that one day would a difference make. Saturday, MN Seniors took it to TW, beating them 4-0.

Sunday, TW got back a couple girls that had been missing the previous day, so optimism was in the air.

It was not to be, as Minnesota scored at the 1:10 mark and would add a pair of first period goals to that en route to a 7-2 win over TW Sunday morning at Braemar Ice Arena.

Carly Bullock deked and toe-dragged her way for two goals in the first, as well as Sydney Brodt's short-handed goal for the 3-0 lead.

MN had a 12-4 shot advantage in the period.

Brodt scored again in the middle of the second before TW got on the board.

Trailing 4-0, Nicole Unsworth was working in the left corner before curling out to the bottom of the left circle before launching a shot on goal. The rebound came out front, where Emma Peterson was waiting and she did not fail. The goal came at the 10:50 mark.

Lauren Greeder tallied another shorty at 13:58 to make it 5-1, then Jordan Anderson put the puck in the net three minutes later to account for the 6-1 score going into the final break. Shots were 19-5 in the period, Minnesota.

Jada Ward got the TW faithful fired up when she scored on a slapper from the right dot to cut the lead to 6-2 with just over 15 minutes left in the third. Taylor Treu had an assist on the play.

There was no change in score until the last minute when Annelise Rice scored a power play goal with 53 seconds left for the final score.

Marie Dedert had another solid game, stopping 38 shots for TW. Chloe Crosby (7) and Marit Larson (7) teamed up to make 14 saves. Shots in the third period were 14-2 in favor of MN.

It was a great effort by the TW girls, but on this day, the MN Seniors were just that much better.
