Disney has just announced that Star Wars: Episode VIII has started filming, beginning principal photography as of today, according to a statement.

As expected, the followup to The Force Awakens, directed by Rian Johnson, will feature the return of the last film's stars, including Daisy Ridley and John Boyega. But Disney is also confirming a few new entrants in the franchise: Episode VIII will feature Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern, as well as "talented newcomer" Kelly Marie Tran, according to the statement.

Disney released a brief video from the set, featuring Johnson in the director's chair, picking up at a scene where — spoiler alert — The Force Awakens left off. Episode VIII is set to be released on December 15th, 2017.
