The Division's Incursion Update Adds Gear Sets, Daily Missions, Supply Drops On April 12

by Mike Futter on Mar 31, 2016 at 09:05 AM

It's been just under a month since The Division's launch, and high-level players are hungry for more to do. They won't need to wait long.

The Incursion update drops on April 12 (the same day as Destiny's big April update). The centerpiece of the 1.1 version is the Falcon Lost activity, developed by Ubisoft Annecy.

You'll descend into the sewers and attempt to flush out the Last Man Battalion from a water treatment facility, a completely new area not found in previous missions. There are two difficulty modes, and you'll need to have the right gear and a good team going in.

You can matchmake, and hard mode will include a recommended gear level. The more difficult challenge level has a required threshhold. There are no checkpoints, so you'll want to be conservative. Incursions are The Division's version of raids found in MMOs or games like Destiny.

There's a weekly reset, but completing the incursion multiple times will still yield a reward. You'll get the best loot the first time, and it might be strong weapons or gear set pieces.

The update also includes gear level. If you've played MMOs or Destiny, you'll recognize the rating system for max-level players.

Gear will now have a level calculated based on its strength and its rarity. Additionally, there will be four gear sets focused on different aspects of gameplay. Sets have a unique talent that can't be found elsewhere that can only be unlocked when you equip enough pieces.

Tactician's Authority focuses on electronics and healing. Sentry's Call is geared toward marksmen. Striker's is designed for players who prefer all-out assault. You'll find pieces in the incursion, challenge modes, via blueprints, and in the Dark Zone.

There's also a set tuned to Dark Zone play that can only be earned in the Dark Zone. The player-versus-player area is also getting some new features.

Supply Drops are packages that land in a random location about every hour. The first group to reach the drop gets it, and it won't need to be decontaminated before use.

Trading will be introduced in the 1.1 update. This is handled similar to Diablo. You have a limited amount of time (currently two hours), and will only be able to trade amongst those that were in your group at the time you earned the items.

For those who have completed the game and need some additional things to do, the update will add daily and weekly assignments. These are activity agnostic, so you won't necessarily be funneled into a specific mission.

This hefty update drops on April 12 for all players. It's going to be completely free.
