We’ve recently put our guest room up on airbnb so I’ve been looking for ways to make the space a little homelier and not just a spare bed in our cluttered home office. Along came Swedish designer Nina Kullberg, who designs lovely geometric cushions in some of my favourite colours – it seemed to be one of the easiest, and perhaps obvious, ways to jazz up a clean, crisp, white bed. Nina is based in London but gets the cushions handmade in Istanbul, which perhaps explains some of the graphic, almost three-dimensional patterns. She says of her designs:

I am inspired by historical ornaments and structures found foremost in London, such as iconic landmarks, building entrances, balconies and tapestry, but I’ve added my personalised twist to the dimensions.

I went for London in Hemlock Green, a delicate, pastel turquoise, which is featured throughout the house. Along with a light grey throw and similarly-coloured accessories, it sets a calming scene for my guests (just don’t look at the other side of the room – books packed in, ordered by colour of course!). I’m really impressed with the quality and texture of the linen too, even better when the dye is organic (not to mention it’s machine washable, perfect when you have guests coming and going).

And you lucky readers can get 20% off one of Nina Kullberg’s cushions for a limited time by entering the promotion code ‘catesthill’ (offer lasts until November 20, free shipping too!).

Which one will you choose?
