Subway musicians play together from 9 different subway stations

Watch more with these video collections:

In Chris Shimojima‘s Signal Strength, eleven musicians unite in a live experiment about connectivity and community: they play a song together from nine different New York City subway stops with the help of WiFi-enabled stations.

Conducting via simultaneous video calls on a small fleet of laptops in Bryant Park, composer and conductor Ljova leads this underground philharmonic — accordion, bass, beatbox, cello, djembe & shekere, guitar, musical saw, theramin, trumpet, and viola — in playing “solo” pieces that contribute to a complete musical composition.
