Falling gas prices and changes in Congress got you feeling pessimistic about the future of EVs? Here are 50 reasons to celebrate the advent of the electric century. The second edition of the EV City Casebook highlights 50 “big ideas” that have the potential to turbocharge EV adoption around the world.

Some of the big ideas are new technologies, such as the Korean city of Gumi’s wirelessly charged electric buses and Toyota’s Ha:mo multi-modal navigation system. Some are government policies, such as London’s proposed Ultra-Low Emission Zone. Some are innovative business models, such as the Chinese firm Kandi’s “EV vending machines.” A few are simply trends, for example the growing number of electric taxis in cities such as Bogota, Amsterdam and Brussels.

“The Casebook profiles innovative policies, projects, technologies and business models that are being implemented in 23 countries across six continents” said David Beeton, Managing Director of Urban Foresight. “This shows the global nature of these developments and how electric vehicles offer real potential to make cities smarter and more sustainable.”

“The projects featured in the Casebook represent some of the most inspiring and game-changing electric mobility developments from around the world, across a wide spectrum of applications,” said Tali Trigg, a Transport Analyst at the International Energy Agency. “The ideas presented here are fresh, inventive ways of thinking about EV deployment.”
