Some are timelessly classic, some fashionable and others spectacularly unusual – but there's one thing that all OBJECT CARPET's creations have in common: they have helped carpet shake off its outdated reputation and acquire a totally new image. The best example: "Pure Silk", a new quality that is hard to beat when it comes to flamboyance and luxuriousness: 2.5 kilograms of pure silk go into making every single square metre. Each "Pure Silk" carpet is a hand-woven one-off for use in particularly special places. So it's hardly surprising that the manufacturer of this glamorous product has been included in the Luxury Business Report 2013 and thus ranks amongst the top 50 luxury companies in Germany.

The family-run company is based in Denkendorf near Stuttgart and has a production facility in Krefeld. Ever since it was founded in 1972, its reputation has been based on exceptional carpet design and the premium quality of its materials and technical workmanship. With 1300 different qualities and patterns, OBJECT CARPET has one of the biggest collections in the world – and keeps everything in stock. "That enables us to be very flexible, respond to orders at short notice and meet individual customer requirements," says Executive Director Daniel Butz, who runs the company together with his father. First and foremost, OBJECT CARPET specialises in meeting the needs of large-scale contract projects and collaborating with architects. Italian architect and designer Matteo Thun, for instance, recently created a collection by the name of "Hotel Palazzi". Thanks to a newly developed manufacturing technique, the carpets – which were specially created for hotel interiors – feature three-dimensional structures that enable the observer "to feel with his eyes and see with his fingers," as Matteo Thun puts it. In contrast, the accompanying colour concept consisting of six different shades of grey emanates a sense of upmarket understatement. "The goal was to create sustainability," says the designer. The carpets are made to last – not just in a technical sense but in terms of their appearance as well.

Besides its work for the contract sector, OBJECT CARPET also implements solutions for private residential projects. The edged, freely positionable carpets of the new "RUGX" brand feature surface textures that are as aesthetic as they are unusual, thus guaranteeing exquisite haptic and visual qualities. "The Home Collection is playing an increasingly important role," says Daniel Butz. "After all, carpeting is currently enjoying a major comeback in domestic settings too."
