How to Be a Better Writer in Just One Day

Most people - even those who are not professional writers - have to do an awful lot of writing. Whether you're beefing up your profile here on LinkedIn, writing an important email to a client, or even just sending out a newsletter to fellow Little League parents, writing is part of everyday online life. So here's a tip to be a better writer in just 24 hours.

Wait.

That's it. Just wait. One day to be precise, from the time you write whatever it is you are writing to the time that you send it. Then, once you have waited 24 hours, look it over one more time. Even better, read that masterpiece out loud to yourself.

I absolutely, positively, guarantee that even the least talented writer on the planet will produce a better piece simply by waiting one day and giving the work a final once over.

Sounds too easy? Think a moment. How often do you typically violate this rule? Weekly, Daily? Maybe even today? It's incredibly tempting in our last-minute world to rush through the work. Heck, I'm a huge fan of the bum's rush myself. But always build in just one more day. Not an hour, or six, or even twelve. A whole day.

Boom, you are now a better writer.

And for those who are celebrating later this week, Happy 4th!
